Extension Education as one of the pillar of the University, is working for the technology transfer to the farming community through its various programmes. Under the agies of the Directorate of Extension Education, 16 Pashu Vigyan Kendras are working in different districts of Rajasthan. One more PVK is under establishment at Jhalawar. PVK at district level is venturing to penetrate up to each livestock owner of the state for enhancing animal productivity and profitability from livestock sector. Establishment of centre at district level enables the dissemination of latest fruitful technologies at faster rate to the end users. Livestock owners are envisaged to have a direct communication with scientists and extension workers not only to solve their immediate problems but also to receive trainings and technologies. Pashu Vigyan Kendras is not only creating a bridge between livestock owners and scientists at the university but it rather be able to become a very much accessible and very responsive and modern ‘livestock knowledge exchange’- amongst livestock owners, livestock entrepreneurs, other stakeholders, state government departments and agencies with ‘Directorate of Extension Education’.
PVKs imparting skill-based trainings for strengthening the entrepreneurial activities in the rural areas. The PVKs are actively involved in training and capacity building initiatives for the farmers and the unemployed youth across the state. PVKs are also involves in organization of animal treatment and infertility treatment camps, farmers’ training, exhibitions, farmers-scientist interaction, demonstrations etc. PVKs are also providing consultancy services to the livestock farmers according to their problems in the field of animal husbandry and providing disease diagnostic services to them by testing of blood, faecal, milk and urine samples at PVKs laboratory.
Thus, PVKs are providing trainings, advisory services, transfer of technologies and diagnostic facilities to the end users.
At present 16 Pashu Vigyan Kendras at Bakalia (Nagaur), Suratgarh (Sriganganagar), Kumher (Bharatpur), Bojunda (Chittorgarh), Ratangarh (Churu), Avikanagar (Tonk), Dungarpur, Sirohi, Kota, Dholpur, Lunkaransar (Bikaner), Jodhpur, Jhunjhunu, Jobner, Jalore and Jojawar (Pali) have become functional and operational. The construction of building of Jhalawar is under construction.
Mandate
The mandate of Pashu Vigyan Kendra is to impart service of trainings to farmers on new technologies of animal husbandry and veterinary science to sustain and improve production of animal for better livelihood of farmers.
Objectives
- To impart trainings, enhance awareness and to conduct demonstrations regarding breeding, feeding, management and health care of various species of animals to enhance animal productivity.
- To disseminate technology at grass root level for improvement in animal productivity as well as socio-economic status of rural masses.
- Identification of local problems and to impart knowledge as well as prepare technology modules to mitigate the problems.
- To provide livestock and farm advisory services through various extension activity including literature for quick dissemination of technology.
- To assess and refine the latest technologies developed under control condition in field for their wider adaptation and collecting feedback information from field and generate production data for livestock farming.
- To have provision of services for animal disease diagnosis and treatments testing of feed & fodder as well as animal products.
